What's new in FIZ — April 2026

Your customers can now pay by Multibanco and ifthenpay, with the reference printed straight onto the invoice PDF. You can also issue transport documents and report them to the AT, plus a new alert when one client takes up too much of your turnover.

April was mostly about payments: you can now connect ifthenpay and the Multibanco reference prints straight onto the invoice PDF, ready to pay. If you move goods, you can now issue transport documents and report them to the AT from FIZ. And there’s a new alert for sole traders — for when a single client takes up too much of your turnover. Here’s the rest.

Your customers pay by Multibanco and ifthenpay

Issuing the invoice is only half the job. Then comes chasing the payment, sharing your IBAN, nudging the client. From April you can connect ifthenpay in your invoicing settings and let FIZ handle it.

With ifthenpay connected, each invoice can be paid by Multibanco reference, card, Google Pay, Apple Pay or MB Way. And the reference (Entity, Reference and Amount) plus a QR code now print right on the invoice PDF you send. The client opens the document and pays, with nothing to copy across by hand.

To set it up, go to Settings → Invoicing → Online payments and paste your MB Key (and the Gateway key too, if you like). ifthenpay is available on the paid plans.

Transport documents, issued and reported to the AT

If you move goods, the law requires a transport document (guia de transporte) reported to the AT before the vehicle sets off. Until now that usually meant another piece of software, or filling everything in by hand on the Finanças portal.

From April, FIZ handles it. You create the document, pick the movement type — Transport Guide, Delivery Note, Own Assets Guide, Consignment Guide or Return Guide — set the customer, the items, the loading and unloading addresses, the date and the vehicle’s registration. Hit Issue and FIZ reports the guide to the AT over the webservice, then hands you the AT code and the PDF, ready to travel with the goods.

Transport documents are available on the paid plans, for anyone who sells or moves goods.

An alert when you depend too much on one client

Working almost entirely for one client feels comfortable — but it carries tax and legal risk. If a single company client pays you 50% or more of your turnover, they may owe an additional contribution to Segurança Social (Art. 168.º n.º 7 CRC); past 80% sustained over time, the relationship can be reclassified as employment.

From April, FIZ watches this for you. The Turnover Breakdown now shows your client concentration: how much each client weighs in your turnover, with a warning when it crosses the line. The same view breaks your income down — including operations exempt under Article 9 of the VAT Code, which FIZ now flags automatically.

These alerts are available on the paid plans.

A few more improvements

  • The window to invoice the previous quarter is now 20 business days. More time to issue an invoice dated to the quarter that just ended.
  • Permanent series (FIZ.CO/XX format). We dropped yearly series in favour of one permanent series — simpler and more consistent. Custom series are still available on the paid plans.
  • For companies (LDA/SA): a read-only VAT estimate is now available — check your VAT position without making any changes. And on the MAX plan you can download the return as XML and enter your accountant’s NIF.
  • Segurança Social: we improved IBAN reading on the direct-debit page and the recognition of the password-recovery screen.
