November was a big month for FIZ. We launched the AI Tax Assistant, opened the paid plans with card payments, started the referral programme and brought Open Banking to the app. Here’s everything, no fluff.
AI Tax Assistant — clear up doubts without leaving FIZ
If you work for yourself, you know that doubt that turns up at night: “is this right? do I actually have to file this? which box does this go in?”. Until now the answer was a Google search or waiting for the accountant.
Now you have the AI Tax Assistant inside FIZ. You ask in plain English and it answers: about VAT, IRS, deadlines, or how to issue a document on the AT portal. It knows the Portuguese tax context and speaks your language, not the language of the tax code.
And since the Invoicebot is now connected to the assistant, you can get help with your invoices in the same place.
Pay for your plans in FIZ — now with card too
Invoicing in FIZ is, and stays, free. But for those who want the paid features, paying lacked flexibility.
In November we added card payments (via Stripe) alongside MB WAY. Pick whichever method you prefer and your subscription activates without fuss.
And if you haven’t tried a paid plan yet: new users get a free trial, so you can get to know the features before deciding.

Referral programme — invite a friend and you both win
If FIZ saves you time, chances are it’ll save time for someone you know. So we launched the referral programme.
Here’s how it works: you share your link, your friend signs up and issues their first invoice — and you both get a free month on any paid plan. The months stack with each active referral, so the more you share, the more you earn. You can send the invite straight through WhatsApp.

VAT return — now with expenses and credit notes
The VAT return in FIZ is more complete:
- Expenses in the return — you can now enter expenses and deduct the corresponding VAT, instead of declaring only what you invoiced.
- Re-file — if you need to correct something, you can re-submit a previous quarter’s return.
- Credit notes — we added support for the right boxes (Box 7 and 8) and the choice of cancellation reason in line with the return’s logic.
Fewer sums by hand, less worry about getting a box wrong.

Invoices and customers — small everyday wins
A set of improvements for those who use FIZ every day:
- Earlier date on an invoice — you can pick a past date within the current quarter (or up to 5 working days during the quarter transition).
- Payment status of imported invoices — you can now change it; these invoices open like a normal invoice.
- Discounts in PDF templates — discounts now show up in your custom PDF templates, on the document you send to the client.
- Invoices in Portuguese — when your client is in a Portuguese-speaking country, the invoice PDF is automatically issued in Portuguese.
- Customer import — now includes the phone field.
Public API — connect FIZ to your tools
For those who want to automate, we launched the FIZ Public API. It lets you connect FIZ to external systems: create invoices, sync customers or integrate with the tools you already use in your business. The full reference lives at api.fiz.co.
Mobile app — Open Banking and more
FIZ on your phone grew in November too:
- Open Banking — connect your bank accounts and see the movements right in the app, without hopping between apps.
- Plans and free trial — you can now subscribe to and try a paid plan from your phone.
- Referral programme — invite friends and share your link straight from the app.
- Smoother payments — we improved the MB WAY payment experience and the payment history.
What’s coming next
We’re already working on more for the VAT return and for the app. If there’s something you’d like to see in FIZ, or you ran into a problem, write to us via the in-app chat. We read everything.
Thank you for using FIZ.
