May was all about IRS. After months of building it, we opened up filing your annual income tax return straight through FIZ — with a wizard that takes you from marital status to filing the Modelo 3 on the AT portal. And that wasn’t all: bookkeeping is now within everyone’s reach, FIZ gained six languages, and working documents joined your invoices. Here’s everything.
File your IRS — start to finish, inside FIZ
IRS season is what most people put off: too many annexes, tax rates that make no sense, the fear of clicking the wrong button on the Finanças portal. From May, you do all of it from FIZ.
The IRS wizard walks you through it step by step — marital status, income, deductions, simulation, declaration. Your Category B income comes in automatically from the invoices you issue in FIZ, and the rest you can load straight from the AT Portal instead of typing it by hand.
Along the way the wizard handles the real cases: joint filing for married and de-facto couples, dependants and household composition, and a comparison with the NHR and IFICI special regimes where they apply. At the end you submit the return straight to the AT portal from FIZ — or, if you prefer, generate the official Modelo 3 XML file and upload it by hand. And you can regenerate it as many times as you need during the filing window.

It’s a one-time payment of 49.99 € for the tax year, with every annex included. And if all you need is to file your IRS, you can sign up just for that — without registering as self-employed.
Your bookkeeping, ready every week
The Finances section used to be reserved; now it shows up in everyone’s menu. It’s day-to-day bookkeeping without the quarter-end scramble: you connect your accounts, and transactions come in, get categorised and reconciled automatically — you just review and export.

You get rules and automations to categorise similar transactions, ready-made categories, and everything stays tidy for your accountant — including VAT calculations and reports. The advanced features are on the paid plans.
FIZ now speaks six languages
Working in Portugal without solid Portuguese is a real barrier for a lot of people. In May we opened FIZ in six languages: alongside Portuguese and English, now also Russian, Ukrainian, French and Spanish. Switch in the picker, and FIZ even suggests your language from the browser.

Working documents, alongside your invoices
Not everything you send a client is an invoice. Sometimes it’s a quote, a pro-forma, a work sheet or a purchase order. From May you create these working documents in the same place you make invoices, with the customer, the items and the PDF — without them being certified tax documents.
A few more improvements
- Foreign purchases (reverse charge). On the VAT return you can now record purchases from EU or non-EU suppliers — FIZ works out the VAT due and the deductible VAT, with the net effect usually zero.
- Tax credits for referring IRS. When you invite a friend to file their IRS through FIZ, they pay less and you earn tax credits to spend on the service.
- Infinite scroll on the documents list. On accounts with lots of invoices, the list loads as you scroll, with no paging.
- Clearer Social Security. The SS metric on the dashboard gained an explanation and a forecast view, so you can see what’s coming before the deadline.
